Group 4 - 'Roddy's Rockets' - Update.

We just wanted to let you know that we've arrived safe and well, and are already in full-on, action adventure mode!

Group 4 comprises: Emily R, Lilia, Joe P, Ben G, Grace B, Chloe, Rhiannon, Layna, Jacob & Finn.

The group have all successfully unpacked and even made their own beds! They sat down to a hearty lunch, with choices of pasta, salad, bolognaise, jacket-potatoes, beans, cheese, yoghurts and fruit.

After meeting with our instructor, Dan, we went and climbed Castle Head and enjoyed amazing views of Borrowdale Valley and Derwentwater, so that we could familiarise ourselves with the area. Our ramble turned into a bit of a foraging expedition, and we ate blackberries straight from the bushes and wild-sorrel, which tasted a bit like 'apple skin'. We also found lots of hazelnuts, acorns and quartz. Some of the children have pockets full of rocks to bring home for you, you'll all be pleased to hear!

They're currently enjoying some free-time before dinner at 5:30 (roast chicken and yorkies or alternatives tonight - yum!), then evening activities. Here's a selection of photos from today,  and I'll try putting some up from tonight later on.

(disclaimer: they take an eternity to upload, but we'll try our best each evening).

Thanks, Mr Roddy.

Bear Grylls isn't a patch on this group! (Wild-Sorrel)

Summit of Castle Head

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's an oak tree!

This little robin came up right next to us when we stayed really still and quiet!
